Our Faith
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. Romans 1:16a
What is this faith in God and the gospel that we've talked about on our website? We believe that God the Father sent his Son Jesus Christ to earth and that Jesus' death on the cross paid for our sin. Why would the Father send his only Son to die for us? God sent Jesus because He loves us and wants to have a personal relationship with us.
The Bible says in Romans 3:10b that "there is no one righteous, not even one." Why is there not a single righteous person on earth? According to Romans 3:23, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Sin prevents us from having the relationship with God that we were created to have, and the wall of sin that stands in the way of our friendship with God can be penetrated only one way. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." God was willing to sacrifice His beloved Son's life in order to restore our relationship with Him!
You may wonder why such a tremendous sacrifice was necessary to restore our relationship with God. God says in Romans 6:23 that "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Because the consequence of our sin is death, someone must die to pay our consequences. We cannot pay the debt ourselves because we are not perfect. God gave His Son, Jesus Christ's perfect life to pay for the consequences of our sin, so that we might live in a relationship with Him. This gift of life is yours if you receive it.
How do you receive the most wonderful gift a person can ever know? Romans 10:9-10 tells us "that if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:13 also says "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." All you must do to receive the gift of life that God has provided is pray to the Lord, confess to Him that you are a sinner and that you understand your need of Jesus' sacrifice to pay for your sin, and ask Him to be your Savior.
Have you decided that you want a personal relationship with God? If you have, perhaps you now wonder what the next step is. Romans 12:2 says "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will." God has a purpose for your life that He will show you if you are willing to see it. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you are a new person with a new life ahead of you. Get a Bible, read it, and pray to your new Savior for direction in your life. He will speak to you about anything and everything if you listen.
